Index rebuild performance is poor in 12c while nodes in the cluster are exiting. (Doc ID 2008832.1)

Last updated on MAY 19, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Coherence - Version 12.1.3.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The performance of an index rebuild during failover, when using a POF Serializer, is worse in 12.1.3 than it was in 12.1.2, even though the index rebuild in 12.1.3 is done by a pool of worker threads.

The problem can be seen during testing:

  1. Create a Coherence cluster.
  2. Create a cache and load it with one million objects.
  3. Added a single index (Reflection index)
  4. A query is repeatedly run reporting its execution time, while stopping and restarting nodes in the cluster.
