Error Creating User in Sites When Integrated with LDAP: error code 65 - object class 'account' requires attribute 'uid' (Doc ID 2013082.1)

Symptoms

Sites was integrated with LDAP. User validation works as expected, but creating new users from within the AdminSite fails with error:
