Goal

One can come often across scenarios where the snapshots(LOB) related data are either already very big in size or or is growing at very rapid rate in OIM. For example: the DB size is only 18GB but the Snapshot is 288GB and one would like to delete selective old snapshots from UPA table in order to get rid of snapshots that are not needed.

In these type of scenarios one can often see another issue of  "once we delete these rows the lob space being used is not turned into free space" and often ask "Please advise what is this best way to clear out this space once we delete rows in UPA  etc tables"

This article will advise on how to do the shrink operation to claim the free LOB space.
