Goal

When upgrading APEX, you must also upgrade the APEX static images in the Glassfish server used by the Database Cloud Metered Service (DBaaS). Unlike a standard on-premise installation, the static images for APEX are defined in the /i directory of the Glassfish document root (/u01/app/oracle/product/glassfish3/glassfish/domains/domain1/docroot/i), rather than in and i.war file. This document discusses how to update the APEX static images for DBaaS installation.

NOTE: When upgrading APEX in a 12c CDB / PDB wth multiple PDBs, ALL PDBs must be running the same version of APEX. See:
          Understanding Installation Choices in 12c

There are two upgrade scenarios discussed here:
1. APEX was upgraded using the full installation media. For example, upgrading from 4.2.5 to 5.0.x.
2. Upgrading APEX via the My Oracle Support (MOS) patch. For example, upgrading from 4.2.3 to 4.2.6 OR upgrading from 5.0.0 to 5.0.2.
