Messages "Can't create Socket: Address Family Not Supported By Protocol" In Gateway Instance Trace File (Doc ID 2022399.1)

Symptoms

Oracle API Gateway 11.1.2.2.x on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x.

 

The Gateway instance trace file contains many errors "can't create socket: Address family not supported by protocol"

ERROR   07/Nov/2014:15:26:48.127 [tid]     can't create socket: Address family not supported by protocol
ERROR   07/Nov/2014:15:26:48.198 [tid]     can't create socket: Address family not supported by protocol
ERROR   07/Nov/2014:15:26:49.362 [tid]     can't create socket: Address family not supported by protocol
ERROR   07/Nov/2014:15:26:49.367 [tid]     can't create socket: Address family not supported by protocol
ERROR   07/Nov/2014:15:26:49.371 [tid]     can't create socket: Address family not supported by protocol

Changes

1.) The problem may be triggered by the following network configuration:

No IPv6 interface

AND

An IPv6 entry for localhost, like this:

 ::1 localhost localhost.localdomain localhost6 localhost6.localdomain6

2.) The problem shows up only related to Gateway management traffic, for example when OAG Manager is used.
