"JOC-058 distributed cache initialization failure" When Using JOC In Combination With OWSM (Doc ID 2022998.1)

Last updated on APRIL 10, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Web Services Manager - Version 11.1.1.4.0 to 11.1.1.9.0 [Release 11gR1 to 11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Java Object Cache (JOC) is used in distribute mode in combination with Oracle Web Services Manager (OWSM 11g).
OWSM is the only user of JOC in the domain.  Web Center is not used in the domain.

Error messages from JOC are observed during managed server startup, like this (example from a setup where the JOC port was not free)

<Error> <oracle.as.cache> <BEA-000000> <oracle.ias.cache.NetworkException: J2EE JOC-058 distributed cache initialization failure
J2EE JOC-043 base exception:
J2EE JOC-824 unable to join group at [<HOST>:<PORT>] segID=1, SSL due to unexpected I/O problems
       at oracle.ias.cache.groupv2.Client.init(Client.java:118)
       at oracle.ias.cache.groupv2.GroupMember.<init>(GroupMember.java:383)
       at oracle.ias.cache.groupv2.GroupMember.create(GroupMember.java:93)
       at oracle.ias.cache.groupv2.GrpCommunication.init(GrpCommunication.java:141)
[...]

or (example from <BUG:21286522> )
