Deleting All Revisions Of Item Does Not Mark Folio Item as Invalid (Doc ID 2024413.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 18, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Content - Version 11.1.1.8.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A content item containing multiple revisions is added to a folio.  All revisions of the item are deleted from WCC, before the indexer runs.  The indexer then runs and deletes the item from the index.

The folio still shows the item as a valid item even though it is no longer valid.

Note that this does not show the issue if the item has only one revision and that is deleted.  Once the indexer runs and actually deletes the item, the item shows as invalid in the folio as expected.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create an item with at least 2 revisions.  Wait until the item is indexed and Released.
  2. Create a folio (Content Management -> New Folio, Advanced Folio, no template).
  3. Add the item from step 1 to the folio (Right-click on Folio Root -> Insert Item by Search).
  4. Check in the folio (Actions -> Save Folio, No profile, give it a title and click Check In.  Then click Finish for "Continue editing the folio").
  5. Verify the item in the folio.  Expand Folio Root, click on item to highlight it, expand Element Info on the right.  Click View Content Info link under Element Info to see both revisions listed.
  6. Shut off the indexing Automatic Update Cycle (see steps below).
  7. In another tab of the browser, delete both revisions of item from step 1 from the Content Information page of the item.
  8. Manually run the indexer Automatic Update Cycle (see steps below).
  9. After the indexer completes, refresh the folio from step 2.
  10. Notice the item looks valid when it is really invalid. Expand Folio Root, click on item to highlight it, expand Element Info on the right.  Click View Content Info link under Element Info to see no revisions are found.
  11. Turn auto indexing back on as needed.

Do the same steps with an item with only one revision.  In that case, the item shows as invalid in the folio as it should.

Steps to shut off auto indexer

  1. Open "Repository Manager" Admin Applet.
  2. Switch to the "Indexer" tab.
  3. Click "Configure..." in the Automatic Update Cycle section.
  4. Un-check the "Indexer Auto Updates:" Checkbox.

Steps to manually run indexer

  1. Open "Repository Manager" Admin Applet.
  2. Switch to the "Indexer" tab.
  3. Click "Start" in the Automatic Update Cycle section.

It is expected that the item should show as invalid in the folio when all revisions are deleted, even if they are all deleted in one indexer cycle.
