How to Upgrade Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 11g to ODI 12c by cloning the database schema on the same database?
By following the Upgrade Guide:

Chapter 5 Upgrading Your Oracle Data Integrator Environment
- Section 5.1 Preparing to Upgrade Oracle Data Integrator > 5.1.5 Cloning Existing Master and Work Repositories
Indicates the steps to clone the current database schemata to a different database or a current one.
- Section 5.1 Preparing to Upgrade Oracle Data Integrator > 5.1.6 Verifying that Work Repositories are Attached to the Correct Schemas
Indicates how to re-attach the cloned work repositories to the cloned Master Repositories.
- After the backup of the clone env, documentation will explain the following step:
Section 5.3 Upgrading Your Master and Work Repository Schema
The Upgrade Assistant will fail, as the newely cloned schemas are not visible to the Upgrade Assistant tool.
