Filter SelectManyChoice In A Table Doesn't Work In ADF 12c (Doc ID 2027994.1)

Symptoms

An ADF 12.1.3 application using a custom filter returns following error upon filtering the results:
  ORA-01722: invalid number

with the following stacktrace:
java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-01722: invalid number
