Can we change the umask / chmod of an existing Sites installation? (Doc ID 2035675.1)

Goal

Sites was installed with a user having an umask that granted read or write privileges to other users (e.g. umask 022).
Is it ok to change the umask to 077 for the user that installed Sites, and to chmod all the installation files to remove read/write privileges from other users?
