Symptoms

Oracle Internet Directory 10g 10.1.4.

Two existing OID servers in a cluster.

Trying to  add another node to the cluster fails with:

Query Returned: 2,Cannot establish connection with the following input:  host:<OID_HOSTNAME> port: bindDN: bindPwd: ***** SSL Socket Factory:oracle.ias.repqueries.InstallSSLSocketFactoryImpl,
Setting variable 'szlOIDAdminInfo' to '2,Cannot establish connection with the following input:  host:<OID_HOSTNAME> port: bindDN: bindPwd: ***** SSL Socket Factory:oracle.ias.repqueries.InstallSSLSocketFactoryImpl,'. Received the value from a code block.
Error:*** Alert: Error validating the Oracle Internet Directory Administrator DN. Please ensure that your Oracle Internet Directory connect information is correct, and that the Oracle Internet Directory, its database and listener are running. ***


Tried enabling anonymous binds as per following Note and documentation, to no help:
