EoIB Network For Newly Created Guest vServers Not Having DNS Servers In Exalogic 2.0.6.X Virtual Releases (Doc ID 2039156.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 14, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software - Version 2.0.6.0.0 and later
Linux x86-64
Oracle Virtual Server x86-64

Symptoms

In Exalogic Virtual releases 2.0.6.X  issue with DNS configuration is observed on the newly created guest vServers EoIB networks.

Guest vServers are created by selecting EoIB network which has DNS servers listed as part of it. So when the guest vServers are created we would expect DNS servers to be listed in /etc/resolv.conf file of the guest vServer. But we observe that the /etc/resolv.conf file is empty. Because of this newly created vServers do not have DNS name resolution.

Below is the screenshot of EoIB network from EMOC console which shows DNS servers listed. You can click on EoIB Network under Networks accordion on the left panel and click on "Network Services" tab to go to this screen. We would expect the guest vServer created using this EoIB network would have DNS servers listed in /etc/resolv.conf which is not happening in this case.
