Upgrade with quiet or passive switch fails to complete. (Doc ID 2043018.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 03, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Enterprise Single Sign-On Suite Plus - Version 11.1.2.3.0 to 11.1.2.3.0 [Release 11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When performing an upgrade to 11.1.2.3.0 from 11.1.2.1.0 or 11.1.2.2.0 and running the command  "msiexec /i product.msi /quiet" the old version of logon manager is uninstalled, but the new version is not installed. A second run of the msiexec command results in a completed installation.

The expected behavior is for the installer to complete the upgrade in one run.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. start with an 11.1.2.1.0 install
2. upgrade to 11.1.2.3.0 with a custom MSI package.>
3. msiexec /package.name.msi /quiet

Due to this issue, upgrade takes two runs of the msiexec command.
