How to Mass Update WebCenter Content (WCC) Physical Items Based on Search Criteria using RIDC (Doc ID 2049837.1)

WCC Records gives the functionality to mass-update metadata of Records folders, Categories, Records and Contents. This however cannot be used for updating metadata of Physical Items.  However, it can be achieved using either of the following approaches : 

1. Archiver 

2. RIDC  

With the former the problem would be that that Audit Trail tables will NOT track the metadata update operation since it is a direct database operation. This would make the record administrators not take this approach since it would be a non-record compliant solution.

The latter solution invokes the core Records Idc Services where in the result of the search operation is iterated and the update operation performs the metadata changes , there by triggering the Audit trail updates as well.
