Goal

This note outlines the steps necessary to boot a compute node into single user mode for tasks such as resetting a lost root password, cleaning up bad NFS mount points, fixing operating system files, etc.

** Remember that you will not have most of the normal services in single user mode such as networking as this is a limited environment for access to the filesystem **
