Oracle Virtual Server x86-64
Symptoms
In Exalogic virtual releases issue of unable to ping and SSH to Exalogic guest vServer over EoIB network is observed.
Guest vServer is not accessible over EoIB network both within the rack and from outside the rack. Ping and SSH to guest vServer over other networks works fine without any issues.
Following validations done on the vServer does not show any issues with the vServer which has the problem of EoIB network not working.
- "ifconfig -a" output shows that the EoIB bond is UP and shows the HW address correctly.
- VNICs of the guest vServer on the IB Switches are shown as UP and also there are no duplicate VNICs present. This can be validated by looking at the "showvnics" command output on the IB Switches.
- MTU setting for the EoIB bond shows 1500 which is the recommended for EoIB networks as mentioned in <Note 1611657.1>.
- ifcfg-ethXX EoIB bond files inside /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts folder had correct HW address specified. This can be verified by comparing the HW address in vm.cfg file of the guest vServer with the HW address inside ifcfg-ethXX EoIB bond files.
