How To Reduce Mod_rewrite Rule Duplication for Multiple Domains (Doc ID 2059188.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 02, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Sites - Version 11.1.1.8.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

In order to facilitate vanity urls in WebCenter Sites using url-rewriting at the webserver level, there is a lot of duplication of url rewriting rules. For example each domain (site) having a set of ~20 rules, and each site having the same set of rules (with small variations, such as domainname).
As the number of domains increases, the amount of duplication in the url-rewriting increases and so does the effort involved in maintaining those rules. Is there any way to avoid duplicating these rules for each domain used?
