CDI In Embedded EJBContainer Fails with java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException (Doc ID 2064340.1)

Symptoms

Using the WebLogic 12.1.2.0 embedded EJB container for JUnit testing, when running the container, it fails if META-INF/beans.xml (needed for CDI) exists on the classpath.

The following exception occurs:

java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: authenticatedLookup is unavailable for BasicNamingNode types
at weblogic.rmi.internal.ServerRequest.sendReceive(ServerRequest.java:234)
at weblogic.rmi.cluster.ClusterableRemoteRef.invoke(ClusterableRemoteRef.java:463)
