Portable Object Format (POF) Entries Created by an Application Using 3.7.1.14 or 12.x with Enable-References=True Cannot be Accessed by Applications Using 3.7.1.13 or Earlier. (Doc ID 2066301.1)

Last updated on MAY 19, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Coherence - Version 12.1.2.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The problem occurs when an application using 12.1.2 stores an entry using an application specific composite key class using the Portable Object Format (POF) where enable-references has been set to true in the POF configuration (the default is false).  Another application, using 3.7.1 and Coherence*Extend, is then unable to retrieve the entry from the cluster using a logically equal composite key.  There is no problem when both application are using 12.1.2 or both are using 3.7.1, or if the entry is created by the 3.7.1 application and accessed by the 12.1.2 one.  With the release of 3.7.1.14, the problem could also be encountered if the cluster is updated to 3.7.1.14 and there is a mix of 3.7.1.14 cluster members and pre-3.7.1.14 extend clients are accessing data in the cluster.
