Log Files Rotated By SOA WebLogic Are Not Closed (Doc ID 2068841.1)

Last updated on JUNE 12, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 10.3.6 to 12.1.3.0.0
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The customer's environment is WebLogic Server 12.1.3 with SOA suite installed from the fmw_12.1.3.0.0_infrastructure.jar. Customer is experiencing a file handle leak when a server is started through Node Manager.

When customer runs the lsof command on the WebLogic process he can see many open log files. The problem with this behavior is that if the rotated log files are deleted, they don't free the space on the file system until the WebLogic process is stopped and eventually closes its file handles. This regularly results in full file systems on the SOA servers, even though the customer is removing old rotated out files from the WebLogic partition.
