Unable to login to Sites via LoadBalancer: cas/login returns internal proxy host in service url (Doc ID 2072562.1)

Last updated on APRIL 17, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Sites - Version 11.1.1.8.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Unable to login to Sites via LoadBalancer: cas/login returns internal proxy (or different hostname) instead of originating host in service url

Architecture:
WebCenter Sites UI is configured to be accessed via an externally accessible loadbalancer which forwards the request to a webserver/internal proxy which routes to the WebCenter Sites cluster members.
e.g.
loadbalancer --> webserver/internalproxy --> app server (Sites + Cas)

When accessing Sites UI via the loadbalancer url, e.g http://loadbalancer/sites/login, this gets redirected to cas, which returns http://loadbalancer/cas/login?service=http://internalproxy/sites/wem/fatwire/wem/Welcome
- The webserver/interal proxy is not accessible externally, and so this login attempt fails.
