Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When attempting to install Oracle Forms and Reports 11.1.2.2 on Red Hat Enterprise 6, it fails at configuration stage 98% with the following error:

make: *** [newsqlplus32] Error 2

]]

Looking at the make.log, there are several errors executing "gcc -m32 -o /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.2/fmw/as_1/sqlplus/bin/sqlplus32" commands resulting in similar output:

/usr/bin/ld: crt1.o: No such file: No such file or directory
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[1]: Leaving directory '/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.2/fmw/as_1/sqlplus/lib'
make[1]: *** [/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.2/fmw/as_1/sqlplus/bin/sqlplus32] Error 1
make: *** [newsqlplus32] Error 2

Note:

In general for all make errors, you can execute the command manually (without the installer) to troubleshoot further, if needed. In this case:

/usr/bin/make -f ins_sqlplus.mk install ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.2/fmw/as_1/mkdir -p /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.2/fmw/as_1/sqlplus/bin
