NullPointerException When Collapsing an af:tree Component and Navigating Afterwards Using MDS User Customization. (Doc ID 2084054.1)

Symptoms

An ADF 12.1.2.0.0 application using an af:tree with MDS enabled results in a NullPointerException upon navigating away from the page to another page. The error only occurs when the branches of the tree have been collapsed from bottom to top before navigating to the other page. The error thrown is:

java.lang.NullPointerException
