List Manager Returning ID Instead of Value

(Doc ID 2096296.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 13, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Application Express (formerly HTML DB) - Version 5.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A List Manager has been created in the Sample Database Application. This select list is behaving differently than other select lists in the application.

When using a select list on a modal dialog page, the value presented is not the display value. For example, in a standard select list, if you select the "Bag" option, the value of "Bag" is displayed in the item once the selection is made.

When using the List Manager, instead of presenting the display value of the item, the return value of the list is shown: 8. The expected value to be displayed in the list is "Bag".

The select list behavior should behave the same way regardless of where it's used in a modal dialog page or whether it is used in a regular APEX page.
