Within the Web Server log files (e.g. ohs1.log) there are numerous "File Does Not Exist" errors being reported against the file favicon. An example is as follows:

  • Although the above example is shown for the Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) log file, the same would be true if using ORDS deployed standalone or into a standalone J2EE Web Server (e.g. Tomcat, WebLogic Server, Glassfish).
  • On inspection of the log files you will see that these errors are emanating from when the APEX Application Builder is being used and not from a built APEX application being run.
  • Checking the reference to favicon.png file (e.g .../apex_ui/img/icons/favicon.png) you notice that the directory structure does not exist in the Oracle supplied <images> directory.

Installed or upgrade to APEX 5.0.x
