OPatch failed with error code 73 when Running From Webgate Home. (Doc ID 2103324.1)

Symptoms

"opatch lsinventory" runs fine for other ORACLE_HOME and fails for only webgate home - <MW_HOME>/webgate
Webgate Version : 11g

$ export ORACLE_HOME=<MW_HOME>/webgate

$./OPatch/opatch lsinventory
[WARN ][jrockit] MaxPermSize=256m ignored: Not a valid option for JRockit

Inventory load failed... OPatch cannot load inventory for the given Oracle Home.
Possible causes are:
  Oracle Home dir. path does not exist in Central Inventory
  Oracle Home is a symbolic link
  Oracle Home inventory is corrupted
LsInventorySession failed: OracleHomeInventory gets null oracleHomeInfo

OPatch failed with error code 73

 

As we can see The required webgate home is not listed.
