Reports 12c Standalone Reports Server Fails to Start on Solaris SPARC

Symptoms
New installation of Reports 12c on Solaris SPARC.
Trying to start a new standalone reports server via "startComponent.sh [reports_server_name]" states that report is started but the nodemanager log shows the following a lot of times:
<Nov 25, 2015 4:03:56 PM EST> <FINEST> <NodeManager ComponentManager> <get latest startup configuration before deciding/trying to restart the server>
<Nov 25, 2015 4:03:56 PM EST> <INFO> <NodeManager ComponentManager> <Server failed so attempting to restart (restart count = 1)>
<Nov 25, 2015 4:04:02 PM EST> <INFO> <NodeManager ComponentManager> <The server 'REPORTS_SERVER_NAME' with process id XXXX is no longer alive; waiting for the process to die.>
<Nov 25, 2015 4:04:02 PM EST> <FINEST> <NodeManager ComponentManager> <Process died.>
Checking rwserver_diagnostic.log one can see that it is re-starting. (Nodemanager is trying to re-start it)
In some cases a core dump file is generated.
