Symptoms
A two-step process is required to upgrade a WLS 10.3.0 domain to WLS 12.2.1. First you need to upgrade WLS domain from WLS 10.3.0 to WLS 12.1.1.0.12 and then, second, you need to upgrade from WLS 12.1.1.0.12 domain to WLS 12.2.1. Upgrade of the domain is successful from WLS 10.3.0 to WLS 12.1.10.12. However, when we try to upgrade the WLS 12.1.1.0.12 domain to WLS 12.2.1, we see the following error:
The upgrade of the WLS domain to WLS 12.1.1.0.12 from WLS 10.3.0 was done in a single step, without upgrading to WLS 10.3.6 first. The above errors are not seen when you create a new domain in WLS 12.1.1.0.12 - the upgrade of the new domain is successful to WLS 12.2.1 without issues. Issue is only seen when they try to upgrade the WLS 12.1.1.0.12 domain (which was previously upgraded from WLS 10.3.0) to WLS 12.2.1.
