"Invalid JDBC configuration" message while extending a SOA domain to include Oracle BPM (Doc ID 2118330.1)

Symptoms

While extending the domain to include BPM suite, an error is seen on the last step, 'JDBC configuration in your domain is invalid'.

Reviewing the <Middleware_Home>\logs\wls_config....log file which is generated while using the WebLogic Configuration Wizard, the following error is seen related to a data source:
