ODSM Console Returns Popup in IE 11 with: You are using an unsupported browser. With the Domain/Host in IE Compatibility Site Setting: The current compatibility setting is not supported. Disable Compatibility View before running this webpage. (Doc ID 2126350.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 15, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 11.1.1.7.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Oracle Directory Services Manager (ODSM) with Oracle Internet Directory (OID) 11g 11.1.1.7.0.

Launching Internet Explorer (IE) 11 for OID 11.1.1.7 ODSM URL, a pop up is shown with:

Message from the webpage

You are using an unsupported browser. The supported browsers are Internet Explorer 7 and higher, Firefox 2.0.0.2 and higher, Safari 3.1.2 and higher, and Google Chrome 1.0 or higher.

After clicking OK then going to IE Tools menu > Compatibility View Settings and adding the host/domain to the Compatibility site box, then the page reloads but shows error:

The current compatibility setting is not supported. Disable Compatibility View before running this webpage.

Clicking OK, the page loads but it does not display correctly (mangled or garbled, with some of the text overwriting other text, etc).

After applying the workaround from the Release Notes:

Oracle® Fusion Middleware Infrastructure Release Notes 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.7.0) E54703-03
Chapter 2 Installation, Patching, and Configuration
Section 2.2.7.1 Pages in Oracle Enterprise Manager and Oracle Directory Services Manager do not Display Correctly

It still requests to add the domain to the Compatibility Site list, and the same error occurs. Clicking OK and continuing, the page now looks normal, but the links (i.e., to connect to a directory, etc) do not work - nothing happens.

Workaround:
Use a different IE browser version or a different browser vendor.
