Symptoms

After applying the patch, when using the Chrome browser intermittent issues are seen when either logging in or out of the OIM Self Service UI or when acting on approval tasks.

In each case, the number indicated in "PPR #" of the error message is not specific to the issue and can vary upon environments/scenarios.

Upon login, the following patterns have been observed:

  1. No issue logging in.
  2. Login is ignored and the user will need to try the log in a few times before getting in.
  3. Upon login, an ADF popup is seen with:
    OIMhost:OIMport says:
oracle.adf.controller.ControllerException: ADFC-12003: The page flow scope stack is empty.
ADF_FACES-60097:For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beginning with: ADF_FACES-60096:Server Exception during PPR, #1

Performing actions on an opened task results in the task action being performed without issue, but gives inconsistent display results with the following patterns observed :

  1. The Task Details page closes after the action is taken on the task, but an ADF popup error is seen with:
    OIMhost:OIMport says:
ADFC-06014: An exception occured when invoking a task flow finalizer.
ADF_FACES-60097: For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beginning with: ADF_FACES-60096:Server Exception during PPR, #10
  2. The Task Details page does not close after the action is taken on the task and an ADF popup error is seen with any of the following observed:
    1. OIMhost:OIMport says:
      Target Unreachable, 'cartReqBean' returned null
ADF_FACES-60097: For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beginning with: ADF_FACES-60096:Server Exception during PPR, #2
    2. OIMhost:OIMport says:
      oracle.adf.controller.ControllerException: ADFC-06001: TaskFlowId '${pageFlowScope.cartStateBean.cartItemDetailFormTaskflowId}' is invalid.
ADF_FACES-60097: For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beginning with: ADF_FACES-60096:Server Exception during PPR, #5
    3. OIMhost:OIMport says:
ADFC-12014: Attempted access to an object that has already been released.
ADF_FACES-60097: For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beginning with: ADF_FACES-60096:Server Exception during PPR, #6
    4. OIMhost:OIMport says:
oracle.adf.controller.ControllerException: ADFC-12000: State ID in request is invalid for the current session.
ADF_FACES-60097: For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beginning with: ADF_FACES-60096:Server Exception during PPR, #7
  3. After the Task Details page does not close and the ADF error popup is seen, hitting OK on the ADF error popup results in the popup closing, but the Task Details page will show:
Error 500 - Internal Server Error.
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1
    10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error
The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
    1. When this occurs, it's possible that after hitting the X on the tab to close out of the Task Details page, you can intermittently see another ADF popup error with:
      OIMhost:OIMport says:
ADFC-06014: An exception occured when invoking a task flow finalizer.
ADF_FACES-60097: For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beginning with: ADF_FACES-60096:Server Exception during PPR, #3

When logging out, the following issue can be seen intermittently:

  1. An ADF popup error is seen with:
    OIMhost:OIMport says:
oracle.adf.controller.ControllerException: ADFC-12003: The page flow scope stack is empty.
ADF_FACES-60097:For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beginning with:
    ADF_FACES-60096:Server Exception during PPR, #4

Changes

The issue occurs after applying mandatory patch 19976022.

Variations upon the errors observed can depend upon whether the user is logging in for the first time following a server restart (and whether the tmp files have been deleted prior to the restart) and whether the browsers cache files have been deleted prior to logging in.
