After Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) to Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Migration, Mappings in ODI Do Not Execute or Validate
(Doc ID 2132812.1)
Last updated on DECEMBER 21, 2023
Applies to:
Oracle Data Integrator - Version 12.1.3.0.0 to 12.2.1.0.0 [Release 12c]Information in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
After having migrated Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) 11.2.0.4 mappings to Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12.2.1, various error messages are seen in the migrated mappings.
As of September 2023, the OWB migration utility is no longer available. As of March 2023, all other OWB patches are no longer available.
ODI mappings migrated from OWB require a manual review for correctness and completes. Additionally, all objects migrated are done so with the understanding that the migration process requires you to functionally test the mappings. OWB mappings are deployed as PLSQL packages to an Oracle Database. Mappings migrated to ODI are not deployed to an Oracle Database as PLSQL packages. The mappings, as they are migrated, are assembled from the mapping components from the OWB. They are not used in the same way in ODI as they are in OWB and require, in some cases complete re-engineering is needed as the two products are similar but very different.
Changes
Mappings are being executed in ODI 12.2.1 after having migrated them from OWB.
