RMAN deleting archivelogs needed by extract for recovery (Doc ID 2142790.1)

Last updated on JUNE 16, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle GoldenGate - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Extract is running and registered with LOG RETENTION. You start a transaction on the table you are extracting from but do not commit. GoldenGate detects the transaction, we validate by issuing a showtrans & showch. We then stop/kill the extract and run the RMAN ARCH backup.

When we then I try to start my extract anew, it fails because RMAN has deleted the ARCH logs required for GoldenGate to recover.

This is not working as intended.
