MS Word documents checked out and opened via Windows Explorer crash when the application window is maximized. The application window flickers and responds slowly when dragged to a larger or smaller size ( sometimes recovers before full crash). This issue does not happen in either excel or power point, appears to only be affecting word. The document is only affected when in checked out “Edit” mode not “View” mode. In read-only mode the document does not show this behavior.
In Windows 7 the only way to resolve the issue is to change to another window increase it to full size then return to word and often the document is able to be then edited. Only other way to resolve issue is end process WINWORD.EXE via Task Manager. In Windows 10 shows the same behavior but word does not lock up.
Word should not flick when resized or crash when maximized.
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Launch DIS
2. Navigate to a already checked in doc file
3. Checkout and edit it
4. Try resizing the file and see the title of the doc flicks
5. Try maximizing the file and it crashes.
