Flex Fields Disappear In Multiple Scenarios

A Human task with Flexfield has a complex assignment: the same task is being assigned to a user and to a group to which the user belongs to, so the user sees the task twice.
However, for one copy of the task, the flexfields are displayed correctly, while for other the fiexfields are empty or blank.
