LDAP Error 50 "Insufficient Access Rights" At The Backend When Using OVD 11g Join Adapter But Not With Primary Adapter If Its Proxy DN Does Not Have Sufficient Access Rights (Doc ID 2161587.1)

Last updated on APRIL 04, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Virtual Directory - Version 11.1.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

An LDAP operation succeeds if it's carried out through an OVD LDAP adapter using some backend credentials in Pass Through mode but it errors out with LDAP 50 "insufficient access rights" if it's carried out through an OVD Join adapter.

The backend user has sufficient access rights in the backend LDAP to carry out the operation but the Proxy DN configured in the primary adapter does not have them. Since Pass-Through was selected, it was expected that the operation would succeed.
