"ORA-00904: : Invalid Identifier" Errors Seen When Confirming If OIM DB Objects Are Valid During Upgrade (Doc ID 2171482.1)

Symptoms

During an 11.1.1 to 11.1.2.3 upgrade, one of the steps is to validate the Database objects (see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E52734_01/core/IAMUP/common_tasks.htm#CHDFFFAF ).

The step advised to re-compile the invalid objects using @<$Oracle_Database_Home_Location>/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql.  Upon compilation of an invalid stored procedure (if applicable) it may fail and if you run "select * from user_errors order by sequence;" the following error may be seen:

PL/SQL: ORA-00904: : invalid identifier  <--notice the empty strings between the ": :" - this is very important to determining root cause
