During an 11.1.1 to 126.96.36.199 upgrade, one of the steps is to validate the Database objects (see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E52734_01/core/IAMUP/common_tasks.htm#CHDFFFAF ).
The step advised to re-compile the invalid objects using @<$Oracle_Database_Home_Location>/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql. Upon compilation of an invalid stored procedure (if applicable) it may fail and if you run "select * from user_errors order by sequence;" the following error may be seen:
PL/SQL: ORA-00904: : invalid identifier <--notice the empty strings between the ": :" - this is very important to determining root cause
