WCS UI Search (Lucene) Not Returning Any Results (Doc ID 2174838.1)

Symptoms

Search attempts in the Contributor UI fail to return any results, even though the Lucene Search is enabled.  The following error is noted in the sites.log file:

[wcsites_server1] [WARNING] [] [oracle.wcsites.search.lucene] [tid: 111] [userId: ] [ecid: d2566a22-e6b4-49bc-83ce-7d8cb41ca00e-0000036f,0] [APP: sites] [partition-name: DOMAIN] [tenant-name: GLOBAL] Unexpected exception during search - [[
java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "gen.R"
