Tasks Do Not Expire When Configured for Parallel Assignment

There is a SOA composite with an ApprovalTask configured for parallel assignment, e.g.
One has also configured a deadline so that the task will expire after a period of time expecting that if the task expire before all approvals are completed, processing of the request will terminate. But when the task expires, processing of the task does not complete, and Approval Details display on the Self Service console show that the request is still in an assigned state. In addition, the following error is seen in the diagnostic log(s) for the SOA managed server:
