Goal

If there are two or more directory servers totally unrelated, in the ldap.ora or DNS you can only access one directory server at a time.

To change to a different directory server, you need to keep multiple ldap.ora's, one for each, and re-set up the environment each time.

Looking for a simpler/transparent way to configure a client to automatically switch from one directory server to another.

How to configure a client so it is flexible enough to connect to different directory servers, i.e., using the same ldap.ora file or a different configuration?

How to configure a client to connect to multiple directory servers in different domains?
