In-Process Reports Server Hangs/Fails when WLS_REPORTS Started as a Windows Service in Reports 11g/12c (Doc ID 2190407.1)

Symptoms

 

DISCLAIMER: The document deals with changing settings for the WLS_REPORTS managed server. Issues with managed servers are handled by the Weblogic team.

You have set up the following as Windows Services:

All steps were followed in Documentation:
Fusion Middleware Managing Server Startup and Shutdown for Oracle WebLogic Server

All the above services start successfully, and all are working except for Oracle Reports.

The In-Process Reports Server hangs.  That is, it spins without output in browser. 

This only happens when WLS_REPORTS is started as a service.

However, it works if you start WLS_REPORTS from command prompt via:


STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Start WLS_REPORTS as a Windows service
2. Try to access Reports Servlet using:
http://<hostname>:9002/reports/rwservlet/showjobs

Changes

 Installed WLS_REPORTS as a Windows service.
