OracleTextSearch Matches Searches Returns more Content than Expected (Doc ID 2193394.1)

Symptoms

11g or 12c WebCenter Content configured for OracleTextSearch.

Items may have a metadata field with strings such as the following:

ENT

ENT_UO

ENT UO

The Matches search on ENT returned not only the items with just ENT in the field but also any items with ENT_UO and ENT UO in their fields.

The Matches search on ENT_UO or ENT UO return the expected items.

 By default the Contains operator and the Matches operator do the same exact search:
Solution
 A. For strings that contain special characters, like ENT_UO, ENT-UO, or ENT&UO, a printjoin could be configured.
 B. Optimized the field.
 Follow these steps to optimize the field:
 Run a Fast rebuild for the changes to get into the current OracleTextIndex:
