Some Users Are Getting "SyntaxError:expected expression" When logging into Contributor UI

Symptoms
When logging in as a user in question to Contributor UI, an error occurs:
Unable to read the configuration file . Please check the console for more details( SyntaxError:expected expression, got '<')
When the user drills down Site Tree , pages are listed but when the user tries to open up pages nothing happens.
Changes
1. The environment in question is (ldap-)integrated with Sun DSEE.
2. The users having the issue have a name that conflicts with an existing ACL.
For example, a user named "ContentEditor"
