Concerned about using unencrypted, clear-text password with Oracle Internet Directory (OID) or Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) LDAP command line tools (ldapbind, ldapsearch) from a cron job in order to monitor connectivity to remote LDAP server(s).

Is it possible to encrypt the password and use encrypted password in ldap commands? Is it possible to bind with the hashed password?
