ADF: Not Possible To Select And Copy Text From An OutputText-Field Within A Table (Doc ID 2213960.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 19, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle JDeveloper - Version 11.1.1.9.0 to 11.1.1.9.0 [Release Oracle11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

It is not possible to select and copy text from a outputText-Field within a table-detailstamp.
Additionally the only way to make text within table-detailstamp highlightable is by using a read-only inputText-Field with pre-set rows-attribute.
This however is not applicable in situations where the text has an unknown length and must be shown completely.

CURRENT BEHAVIOR:
- Text from a outputText-Field within a table-detailstamp is not highlightable and therefore not copyable.
- Text from a read-only inputText-Field within a table-detailstamp is only highlightable if the rows-attribut is set, which results in either too long text fields or unwanted scroll-bars.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR:
 - Text from a outputText-Field or read-only inputText-Field within a table-detailstamp should be highlightable and therefore copyable even if no rows-attribute is set.

Analysis

The issue reproduces even after applying IE 11 supportability patch.

Text in the detail stamp of the table in the first two cases is not highlight-able and hence cannot be copied.
But in the last case the length of the text field is static and it is possible to copy the text.

Working and Non-working cases:

Case 1. outputText-Field within a table-detailstamp : not able to select the text
Case 2. Input put text , readonly =true , row = 1 : not able to select the text
Case 3. Input put text , readonly =true , row = > : Able to select and copy the text

This issue is seen in both IE11 and Chrome browsers.
