NullPointerException In OIM Logs When A Request Is Generated For Modifying Self Profile Due to UDF Of Type Checkbox (Doc ID 2215213.1)

Symptoms

Created a UDF of type Checkbox, and added it to the "Modify User" page as described in "7.5 Adding a Custom Attribute" of the OIM Administrator's Guide. In addition, also created a Workflow Approval Rule for Modify User Profile that points to the AutoApproval composite to allow users to modify their information without Admin approval. After making these changes, its observed that when users do modify their own information, the request is successful but there is a NullPointerException logged, e.g.:
