Weblogic Restart Fails If "Principal Equals Case Insensitive" Option Is Checked

Symptoms

After setting 'Principal equals case insensitive' to true the following error occurs when starting the managed server in WebLogic Server 12.1.3

<Mar 30, 2016 4:55:59 PM IST> <Critical> <WebLogicServer> <BEA-000386> <Server subsystem failed. Reason: A MultiException has 2 exceptions. They
are:
1. java.lang.SecurityException: [Security:090398]Invalid Subject:principals=[<WLS Server MS1>]
2. java.lang.IllegalStateException: Unable to perform operation: post construct on
weblogic.management.mbeanservers.compatibility.internal.CompatibilityMBeanServerService

Login into console>>Domain name >>Security>>general>>Advance>>Principal Equals Case Insensitive
