Is ODSM Supported with VM Domain Type of Hardware Virtualized Machine (HVM) with ParaVirtualized drivers (PVHVM or HVM+PV)? (Doc ID 2225250.1)

Last updated on MARCH 30, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 11.1.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Oracle Directory Services Manager (ODSM) 11g.

As part of a performance tuning activity, Hardware Virtualized Machine (HVM), with ParaVirtualized drivers (PVHVM or HVM+PV) is the recommended domain type for 64-bit OS:

"PVHVM guests, also written as "HVM+PV", are similar to HVM guests except they include paravirtualized device drivers written for the Oracle VM environment. These device drivers are available for Oracle Linux, Oracle Solaris, and Microsoft Windows.
Paravirtualized device drivers use an optimized code path to interact with the Xen hypervisor, and provide performance benefits similar to those for PVM guests described below. Together with the hardware virtualization support of recent server models, this is recommended for 64-bit guest operating systems."

Is ODSM support with the VM domain type changed to PVHVM?
