Symptoms

Open an ADFdi integrated workbook at runtime. Before the login windows appears, a fatal error occurs similar to:

An unexpected exception has occurred. The UI Controller cannot initialize. The runtime session will now abort. (ADFDI-07528)

  or

This worksheet, Sheet1, could not be initialized due to an unexpected error. The worksheet cannot be used. (ADFDI-05530)

 

Clicking the Details buttons something like the following is shown:

InvalidOperationException: This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms.

Changes

The following setting triggers this problem:

On the Windows system, go to "Start > Control Panel > Administrative tools > Local Security Policy".

The "Local Security Policy" dialog appears. Under the "Local Policies" heading, select "Security Options" and look for the following entry

"System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing"

Set this entry to enabled.
