OAM as SP with ServerRequestCacheType Set to FORM Breaks Federation Flow if Accessing Directly the Resource Protected with FederationScheme (Doc ID 2232449.1)

Last updated on APRIL 01, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Access Manager - Version 11.1.2.2.0 to 11.1.2.3.0 [Release 11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

If OAM is acting as Service Provider and "serverRequestCacheType" is set to FORM (can be seen in oam-config.xml) the federation flow will break whenever the resource protected by OAM using FederationScheme/FederationPlugin is accessed.

IDP initiated SSO or SP initiated SSO constructed URL both work fine but entering the protected URL directly in the browser results in following exception at IDP partners logs:

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException
at oracle.security.fed.util.common.Base64.fromBase64(Base64.java:333)

Changes

Changing serverRequestCacheType from COOKIE (default) to FORM using wlst command configRequestCacheType(type="FORM").
